About BACHATA!

“Bachata” is a style of dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. It is danced widely all over the world but not identically. The basics to the dance are three-steps with a Cuban hip motion, followed by a tap which can include a hip movement also on the 4th beat. Generally, most of the dancer’s movement is in the lower body up to the hips, and the upper body can be moved more or less.

Later a newer style called “Modern Style” was developed probably from around 2005 on the “Traditional” style base. This style is widely considered to have originated in Spain, but as with all ‘evolutions’ of dance style this itself is widely debated. The basics are the same as the traditional style “Bachata”, but with added dance elements and styling from “Salsa”, “Tango”, “Zouk-Lambada”, “Ballroom” etc.

In this style, couples typically move their upper torsos more, put greater emphasis on the hip pop, and women use more exaggerated hip movements. The most direct fusion influence on modern style Bachata dancing comes from the adoption of salsa turn patterns.

About KIZOMBA!

Kizomba is a dance and music genre originally from Angola. The term “Kizomba” means “Party”. Kizomba as a dance was born in the 80’s. Kizomba music emerged as a more modern music genre with a sensual touch mixed with African rhythm. After major musical influences from Zouk (Antilles) and has its origin on Semba, a popular Angolan music style. Unlike Semba, Kizomba music is characterised by a slower and usually very romantic rhythm.

Kizomba is an extremely beautiful and sensual dance, besides explosive and contagious, which conquered the world in recent years as a catchy melody and a dance which seduces our souls. Kizomba is for many of the Latin dancers a breath of fresh air, bringing something new and exciting, and perfect for anyone who wants to enter the world of dance due tyo its softness and easy basic steps, allowing any novice to gradually evolve to more complex steps, and more importantly allowing a beginner to enjoy the pleasure of social dancing much earlier than any other type of dance in pairs.

Kizomba is a dance that allows the pair to play the music they are dancing to and, according to the couple’s intimacy, becoming an extremely close dance with slow and sensual moves, requiring great leading skills and complicity between man and woman, or a more open dance with faster steps, foot work and tricks. In both cases, dancing Kizomba provides a warm and unique experience that you will want to repeat over and over again…
